Day 1: Taormina – Piazza Armerina – Agrigento

Taormina, Duomo
After a delicious Sicilian breakfast, we will embark on a journey through the heart of Sicily, immersing ourselves in the history and sea in Sicily. Our first stop is the renowned Villa Romana del Casale in Piazza Armerina, one of the most significant archaeological sites from the Roman era. This UNESCO World Heritage site boasts an extraordinary collection of over 3,500 square meters of intricate mosaics, depicting mythological scenes, daily life, and exotic animals. The villa, built in the 4th century AD, offers a rare glimpse into the opulence of Roman aristocracy.
After exploring this historical treasure, we will take a break for lunch at a local trattoria, where you can taste traditional Sicilian dishes such as pasta alla Norma and caponata.
In the afternoon, we depart for Agrigento, home to the awe-inspiring Valley of the Temples. This vast archaeological park, another UNESCO site, features well-preserved Doric temples from the 5th century BC, dedicated to ancient gods and goddesses. You will marvel at the Temple of Juno, the Temple of Concordia—one of the best-preserved Greek temples in the world—and the Temple of Hercules, all set against a breathtaking Mediterranean backdrop.
As the sun sets over this ancient landscape, we will check into our hotel in Agrigento, followed by a delightful dinner featuring fresh local seafood and Sicilian wines. Overnight stay in Agrigento.
Day 2: Agrigento – Selinunte – Erice – Scopello

Parco Archeo Selinunte
After breakfast, we set off for Selinunte, one of the most remarkable ancient Greek archaeological sites in the Mediterranean. Founded in the 7th century BC, Selinunte was once a thriving Greek colony. You will explore the impressive ruins, including Temple G, one of the largest Greek temples ever built, as well as Temple E, D, and C, and the Acropolis, which offers stunning sea views.
Following this, we journey to Erice, a medieval hilltop town at 751 meters above sea level, offering panoramic views of the sea and surrounding countryside. Enclosed by defensive walls, Erice is a labyrinth of cobblestone alleys, charming squares, and historic sites. We will visit the Venus Castle, built on the ruins of a temple dedicated to Venus, and the Chiesa Matrice, a stunning Gothic church. No visit to Erice is complete without tasting its famous almond pastries and marzipan, a delicacy passed down through generations.
After a lunch break in Erice, we continue to the Zingaro Nature Reserve in Scopello, a picturesque coastal village renowned for its crystal-clear waters and dramatic cliffs. This serene hamlet is home to an 18th-century Baglio, a fortified estate, and the historic Tonnara di Scopello, an old tuna fishery with breathtaking sea views. Enjoy a leisurely walk through the village or relax by the sea before heading to our accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Scopello – Palermo – Monreale

Arab Norman Cathedral of Palermo
After breakfast, we depart for Palermo, the vibrant capital of Sicily, where history and culture intertwine. Our walking tour begins at the famous Quattro Canti, an ornate Baroque square at the crossroads of the city’s historic center. We then visit the stunning Pretoria Fountain, also known as the “Fountain of Shame” due to the nudity of its statues, and explore the magnificent Norman Cathedral, a masterpiece of Arab-Norman architecture blending Islamic, Byzantine, and Gothic influences. A highlight is the Palatine Chapel, adorned with dazzling gold mosaics depicting biblical scenes.
We then head to Monreale, a medieval town perched on a hill overlooking Palermo. Here, we will visit the breathtaking Monreale Cathedral, an Arab-Norman masterpiece from the 12th century. Inside, you will be captivated by the vast golden mosaics covering over 6,000 square meters, illustrating biblical stories with incredible detail. The grand apse features the iconic Christ Pantocrator, a symbol of divine majesty. We will also explore the Benedictine Cloister, an oasis of tranquility with its elegant Arabic-style columns and fountains.
Before concluding our tour, you will have time to enjoy some authentic Sicilian street food, such as arancini, panelle, and cannoli.
As our unforgettable journey through the history and sea in Sicily comes to an end, we bid farewell to this enchanting island, taking with us memories of its rich cultural heritage, stunning landscapes, and warm hospitality.
